Update for last year

I have to admit it to myself... I do suck at keeping the regular updates going. But at least I'm keeping busy. At the moment I'm doing the final essay for my Bachelor degree. At the same time I've done my first balancing of the books, planned the summer and worked a few markets - not without a certain bit of "aaaarrrrghh-tired-of-stressing-will-kill-books"-feelings from time to time, but overall it's working out.

Some stuff along the way:

(I had a nice viking summer, loads of places and pics so I'm a bit too lazy to put up right now.)

Oktober:

Went to Copenhagen and had a good time with friends. On the way to the bus back I found a geological museum and, being a nerd, decided to have a look. They randomly turned out to have an old cabinet of curiosities tucked away in a side room... it even had anteaters. Awesome.

***

After Copenhagen it was time to return to Scotland. As I walked up the Royal Mile I heard a voice shouting my name from the other side of the street. "How odd" I thought, since I don't know that many in Edinburgh.

I looked over to the voice and, naturally, there was a 2 m tall werewolf jumping up and down waving at  me.

At this point my brain
sighed and resigned
to the fact that this was just a new dimension of randomness.

The wolf turned out to be Callum, trying out a new profession... I don't know how much money he got out of scaring the kids but according to him he was almost scared of the approaches of women that wanted to drag him into bed with the costume. Big bad wolf for the win.

While waiting for company I found a nice hill with cannons, columns, an observatory and a nice view over Edinburgh.

*

After that I went to the museum with Sam and Laura and we found a happy friend (and anteaters!)

 ***

Travelled to Glasgow to visit some friends and made a trip to the Isle of Bute with Stuart.

It had the most fashion-forward donkeys I've ever seen...

***

The lovely little English village Godmanchester...

(The text on the stone basically says: Warning, if you're young and stupid, don't fall for other stupid people and for god's sake don't have sex with them. That will only result in you having to marry, and him killing you.)

Going to London!

...

Antique-market-fun-business-tour with Anders. We looked at Camden, Portobello road, the silver vaults etc... and we found out that our hostel had a weird preference for insane neon yellow, which they obviously used to paint over all old dirt that appeared - or at lest that's the way it looked.

The plus side was the little secret stair to the roof we found so we spent some time in the night up there planning on crazy ideas... when we didn't stay at Duke's.

Got home, and did what people do sometimes, imported an Island wife... or rather boyfriend.;) Watched game of thrones and realized "winter is coming"... and then winter came.

And so did Christmas...

The year ended with a calm party at Hampus's.
A crazy year as usual.

York

Pretty ruins in York, the little tower was just outside the entrance of our hotel.

Had a great time with the vikings and crazy nights out at the metal club and the 80's bar Reflex. Managed to get a severe case of hat kleptomania in the 80's bar which resulted in many weird pictures. I blame the huuuge cocktail drinks!

Halden

Back after viking invasion of Norway. As the picture displays I have the helmet-of-eternal-noseguard, but it's actually quite good that way - keeps steel weapons on a good distance from my teeth. It does not help my poor arms and legs though. I still look like a dalmatian, and the huge blue mark on my upper arm could probably be displayed as modern art. Shapewise it looks a bit like Africa... it probably would be the same size as well if it wasn't limited by the size of my tiny arm.;P
Summing it up, having a training weekend with 150 fighters was really fun. Will have to do it again next year.
Because I'm tired after fun and drinks yesterday, song of the day is:

A viking abroad

Quick visit in Copenhagen after passing by Lund. There's a continous buzzing of tattoo machines in the background, it's quite a nice sound but would probably be a bit annoying in the long run. Don't think I'd make a good tatto artist.;)
Visited some friends in the Rock n' Gold shop... tried to convince them to do paintball tomorrow but they were too busy (staying on the couch). At the moment I'm now waiting in Kunsten på Kroppen for them to finish so we can go and have a beer.

***
(Sunday)
Apart from me being quite lost we had a great time with pool and way too many shots. I'm quite happy we didn't get the others in on playing paintball today... a hangover day with the full season of "An idiot abroad" and dinner at Alex's was much nicer. Good friends makes a good day.;)

Paris vs Top Hat

(Notre Dame, photo from Mels phone)
Yesterday me and Mel took a look at Notre Dame during the mass and listened to weird songs. My top hat with goggles turned out to be completely out of place here - since no one is really wearing anything unusual - but it seems to cheer people up and make them talk, which is awesome (even if I don't understand most of it). We bumped into a painter who was completely taken by the weird look so we're visiting him again tonight. In the evening we had a nice night out with good company and an evil slice of pecan nut pie which refused to be eaten. Paris is a lovely city.

Right now I'm heading for the catacombs...

They turned out to be awesome.;) Completely crazy amounts of bones... built into a structure!

Unfortunately I have no pics of me and CM at the Notre Dame in the sunset (went there for the organ concert). Pink/orange towers with the moon hoovering above - very pretty!

Scotland

After two failed attempts the aircraft finally took me to Scotland (6 days later than planned).

Went to Edinburgh - found Saurons holiday home, Sexton and my body guard.

After exploring the inside of the cannon the asian guy in the background took pictures of us... maybe he wanted to display the behaviour and features of the weird Europeans when he got home.

Frost of Scotland - the new national anthem?

... and tomorrow: Paris!

Body art - Evgeny Freeone

Some pics from Evgeny Freeone who makes really inspiring body art. I stumbled on it when I did some random search for body paint pictures last year.
